Disaster Recovery

Information on disaster recovery hot sites and disaster recovery companies can be found on this web page. Every business should have an emergency contingency plan in place for disaster recovery. If you don't have access to disaster recovery facilities, now is the time to get it.

What is a Disaster Recovery Hot Site?
It is a fully-operational offsite data processing facility equipped with both hardware and system software to be used in the event of a disaster in order for your business to continue or recover business functionality. This entire hot site operation is supported and provided by a third-party company. It is a commercial disaster recovery service that allows a business to continue with computer and network operations in the event of a computer or equipment disaster. Some of the equipment typically included in this disaster recovery hot site would be office space and furniture, telephone jacks, and computer equipment.

A disaster recovery cold site is similar to a hot site in that the recovery location space is provided, but the customer supplies the equipment to continue operations.

Typically, you would have an annual contract with a disaster recovery company that offers hot and cold site services with a monthly service charge. Some of these companies also offer backup services so that all data becomes available whether a recovery hot site is used or not.
